I’m learning about hardworking moms who make a difference –I know there are millions of them out there, but it’s different when you actually get to meet one. Her name is Linda and she’s the president of the Dallas Advisory Board for FirstBook (www.firstbook.org ) She drives all over the area delivering brand new books to groups of kids from low income families through their schools and after school programs. FirstBook acts as a sort of "clearing house" and gets books (lots of books) from publishers at a reduced rate and then puts them in the hands of kids who may never have had a brand new book of their own.  Very cool work. And it’s a lot of work for Linda. She was nice enough to let me tag along recently at an after school program and take some pictures.

Often, the groups don’t even have money for a small shipping fee to receive their books… so I’m going to donate $5 for every box of holiday cards that is sold this year to FirstBook. It’s a start!
