Remembrance Sessions : Pet Photography with extra meaning

Good photographers will capture emotion in every portrait --usually joy, love or even fear -- but it's rarely more emotionally charged than when there is an impending loss.  We often get calls from clients for "end of life photos"  when they have just received bad news from their veterinarian.  Most of the time they tell us they have had pet portraits on their to-do list for a long time, but kept forgetting.  Our beloved pets are with us such a short time compared to our human companions and the photographs need to tell the story of that relationship as completely as possible. It's a special joy when they are still active and feeling fairly normal.

We recently visited a beautiful basset hound named Minnie, who has cancer. Her mom is taking some time off from work to be with her for her last days and I'm so glad we were able to capture a little sample of their love for each other. I know Minnie is surrounded by love and given every comfort.  I was honored to be her photographer.
